The first graduating exhibition of Memorial University’s Master of Fine Arts program, 10011 km of Specificity presents the culminating projects of five artists on the path to receiving the first MFA’s in Visual Arts from Grenfell Campus’ School of Fine Arts. The exhibition is presented across two spaces at both the Grenfell Art Gallery and Tina Dolter Gallery.
10011 kilometers is the distance between Tehran and Saskatoon. The farthest two points of artists included in the 2021 MFA Graduate Exhibition, highlighting the innovative blended learning low residence model of the program, the first of its kind in Eastern Canada. Artists Lorna Conquergood, Ardalan Hamedi, Chantal Pennell, and Anie Toole present bodies of work deploying an array of technical and creative strategies, exploring issues of intergenerational care, alternative epistemologies, and the nature of immigration in a globalized context.
