Our Objectives

 

The goal of this project is to create a five-year plan for the beautification of Memorial University’s campuses to enhance pride of place and create beautiful spaces for a thriving, vibrant university that belongs to everyone.

Specific Project Objectives:

  • Create and execute a five year plan to be completed for 2025

  • Restore and/or renovate campus landscapes

  • Address interior spaces designated for beautification

  • Create indoor and outdoor gathering spaces for students, staff, and community on each campus

  • Activate art collection across all campuses

  • Create a plan for sustaining the excellence of Memorials landscapes

  • Create a donor base to fund the activities of this initiative

campus 3-hour challenge

The Beautification Committee is thrilled to launch MUN’s first Spring Clean-Up, in partnership with Facilities Management and the Office of Sustainability and Climate Action.

Everyone, including staff, faculty, and students, is welcome and encouraged to volunteer. This event not only helps the environment but also provides an opportunity for participants to get active and meet other members of #TeamMUN. It will be a fun event, followed by a coffee-meet-up and prizes!

Beautification Initiatives

 

Street Art Wall

In support of the beautification of campus and the creation of a greater sense of place the MUN Street Art Wall will serve as a pilot project. It aims to:

  • Contribute to a stimulating public realm, to beautify and enrich the experience of St. John’s campus of students, staff, faculty, and visitors

  • Beautify St. Johns campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland

  • Create an opportunity for mural commissions that reflect the past, present, and future vision of Memorial University of Newfoundland

  • Support artistic expression and stimulate innovation on St. Johns campus

  • Build local, extra-regional, and provincial artistic capacity

 

Adopt a garden

2022 is the Year of the Garden and perfect timing to launch Memorial’s first Adopt-A-Garden program. If you love gardening or would like to learn, students, staff, and faculty are invited to adopt a garden on St. John’s campus. Everyone is welcome! Join as an individual or as a group.

Murals

Memorial University of Newfoundland is initiating a pilot legal street art wall and is inviting expressions of interest for the design and execution of temporary site-specific outdoor murals.
