‘We are Here’ is a celebration of the journeys we have taken to get to where we are today. All of us have been on different sorts of journeys – sometimes from one country to another and sometimes other journeys in life. The photographers in this project are Corner Brook residents who are newcomers to Canada. Taking part in digital photography workshops, which were led by arts educator Liane Harris, the participants all learned new photography skills. They then created portraits of each other and objects that represent the journeys they have been on.

Images created during the workshop will be on display at the Grenfell campus art gallery, Colemans Garden Market on O’Connell, the Hew & Draw Hotel, Rotary Arts Centre, WOWO Express, and 62 Broadway.

This project has been organized by the Grenfell Art Gallery at the School of Fine Arts, in partnership with The Association for New Canadians and the Centre for Research and Innovation. It was sponsored by Memorial University’s Office of Public Engagement, with support from Colemans and local host venues.
